Pharmaceutical companies spend thousands of dollars hiring physicians to speak at dinner programs, consultants meetings and other events. However, while a physician may be an expert in his field, he will not be able to reach your audience if he doesn’t have good speaking skills. An ineffective speaker is a waste of money and an opportunity squandered.

At Taylor Presentations, we understand not only the importance of basic speaking skills, but we also understand the political dynamics behind physician speaking. While we teach basic speaking skills, including how to present your self well at the lectern, how to create rapport with your audience, and how to best use PowerPoint slides, we also teach the more subtle skills that are specific to this speaking segment. These subtle – but essential – skills include how to speak for pharmaceutical companies while still maintaining credibility, how a speech should vary depending on whether the audience is attending a pharmaceutical dinner or a CME event, and how a speech should differ depending on whether the audience is filled with experts, specialists, generalists, or nurses. Most importantly, we teach physicians how to be engaging when they are behind the lectern.

Physician Speaker Training is generally a 2-day seminar, but it can be customized to suit your needs. In the first day and a half, the participants are all in a general session which usually consists of a mixture of both your company's material (like product slide kits and medical-legal lectures) and Taylor Presentations speaker training material, described above. For the last half-day, we break the participants into small groups which are faciliated by professional speakers
. During these sessions we actually videotape each physician as he gives a small portion of the presentation. Then, the physician receives professional feedback from the faciliator, as well as feedback from his peers in the room, as he watches himself on video. Physicians report back that, until they actually saw themselves on video, they had no idea how much more effective they could be! After a weekend at physician speaker training, physicians should become much more successful at relaying product messages in a confident, comfortable and compelling manner.
